How to Download Two Thumbs Up and Watch the Best Films of All Time

Netflix has faced criticism over the years for only giving users the ability to give a TV show or movie a thumbs up or a thumbs down rating. The company used to offer a star ratings feature, but it dropped that option in 2017 in favor of the binary like/dislike feature instead.

download Two Thumbs Up

As the title of my post states, after the Pandora app was automatically updated on my phone, I discovered that all of my playlists had been deleted, including My Thumbs Up. However, when I now try to re-download the My Thumbs Up playlist to my phone, the download always "hangs" at about the 45%-complete mark.

There is also a discrepancy being reported by Pandora when the download stalls. A screenshot of the My Thumbs Up page shows that downloading has stopped at 45%, while the Playlists page shows something more like 90% complete (see attached screenshots).

If it doesn't appear to be storage related, I'd recommend signing out of the app and signing back in, which will reset the download process. Then, make sure to keep Pandora in the foreground of your device while the download completes. If you continue to have trouble, check the download icon for the content you are attempting to download. The two rotating arrows indicate that the content is still in the download process and the highlighted downward pointing arrow means the content has successfully downloaded. If the icon is not highlighted, try downloading the content again and keep the app in the foreground while your offline music downloads. Keep in mind that stations and large playlists take a longer time to download.Lastly, if you are having trouble downloading stations, please try downloading a single track for offline listening to see if that works.I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

They are all showing now. However, when I first fired up Pandora after the update with the intent of playing offline content, the app told me that I had no Playlists to play, and none were showing. When I got back home (and therefore had an Internet connection again), the Playlist icons showed up again. The smaller Playlists downloaded right away, but My Thumbs Up has always stopped downloading in the same "hung" state.

The "rotating arrows" are not displayed. If you look at the two screenshots that I provided with the original post, you will see that "pie charts" are displayed; these indicators have not changed after 12 hours of uninterrupted downloading in foreground; no arrows of any kind are displayed (either the rotating type or the single one that shows that offline content has completed downloading). This is why I say the process is "hung." BTW, the two screenshots show a discrepancy of 2x between the two "pie charts" for some reason.

"If the icon is not highlighted, try downloading the content again and keep the app in the foreground while your offline music downloads. Keep in mind that stations and large playlists take a longer time to download."

I have tried downloading and repeating the entire process multiple times and had the same result: the process stops at about the 45% point. I leave the app in foreground the whole time, yet its state doesn't change, even after being left open for over twelve hours. The app reaches the 45% point in a couple minutes, and then everything stops.

Since the none of the usual approaches for clearing this error are working, it appears to me that Pandora v2102.1.1 has a new bug in it. I say new because this behavior was not seen before the latest update. It might be related to the size of the My Thumbs Up playlist (1,807 songs). I wonder if an inadvertent size limit (e.g., a finite "index range") has sneaked into the code that causes downloading to freeze when some array goes out of range at an index value corresponding to 800 songs in the playlist (i.e., 45% of 1,807 songs).

Google Play's branded Music app has had Pandora-style thumbs up and thumbs down controls, applicable to your local and cloud music as well as streaming radio stations, for quite a while. But they're not all that easy to get to: aside from the "now playing" screen and the homescreen widget, the functionality isn't all that obvious. The latest update to the app puts those recommendation tools front and center, right on the notification and lockscreen controls.

We're actually looking at two Google Play Music updates here: version 6.2.2220U.2476962 and the slightly newer 6.2.2221U.2480853. Both of them are nearly identical with one notable exception. The expanded "double sized" notification has both thumbs up and thumbs down buttons for both versions, but in the earlier update, a single thumbs up button replaces the track back button on the slimmer "single sized" version. Observe: on the left is the double notification for both versions, in the middle is version 2220U, and on the right is 2221U.

The earlier version seems less than ideal, since this combined slim control hobbles both standard play controls (by removing the back function) and the recommendation tools (by forcing users to expand the notification if they want to register a thumbs down). Since the later version came just a few days after 2220U, I'm going to assume that someone at Google felt the same way. As such, the newer version is linked below.

The APK is signed by Google and upgrades your existing app. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Rather than wait for Google to push this download to your devices, which can take days, download and install it just like any other APK.

Netflix repeated this kind of testing when it completely replaced the five-star ratings with thumbs in 2017. In A/B tests ahead of that change, the company saw ratings activity increase by 200% with thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons. Part of the issue was that these icons were just simpler, but a closer look at the data also revealed that they tended to be more accurate: People would aspirationally rate titles five stars that they deemed worthy of that status, including award-winning documentaries that would then linger unwatched in their queues for months. At the same time, they would frequently binge on reality TV shows that they themselves had rated just three stars.

Still, there were some unresolved questions, including what would perform better: Hearts or thumbs? And would either actually have a lasting impact beyond addressing those loud voices in surveys and other forms of qualitative research?

Netflix began a series of A/B tests for the new ratings feature last summer, trialing both the heart and the two-thumbs-up option. At the same time, the company continued to query subscribers, including those enrolled in the tests, to see whether the new features were actually providing value.

Two thumbs up for Stessa: What-gets-tracked-gets-improved made easy. Transactions download automatically from AppFolio and bank accounts, similar to Mint.com. Hats-off to the reps, who have answered 10+ "hard questions." I only ask "hard questions" since the FAQ is also excellent.

I downloaded another software solution for landlords and hit the eject button within the first hour. I LOVE your service! It is exactly what I needed in terms of automation and tax prep efficiency without trying to be an accounting app.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who havedownloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist'sprofessionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds helpartists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

When Netflix ditched star-based ratings in 2017, it said the simpler thumbs-up and thumbs-down system had proved popular in testing, with viewers much more likely to actually offer a rating after watching something. 2ff7e9595c
